About Dr. Cohen
After graduating with honors from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Dr. Cohen went on to complete his postdoctoral training in cornea and external disease at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, and cornea research at the prestigious Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
A pioneer in LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) surgery, Dr. Cohen developed and trademarked two new laser vision correction procedures — B-LASER™ and Phasik™. His was the first private practice in Florida to perform the extraordinary LASEK (laser epithelial keratomileusis) procedure. He was the first LASIK surgeon to own a permanent excimer laser in South Florida and was among the first ophthalmologists in the United States to perform CK® (conductive keratoplasty).
Dr. Cohen has been featured in "Forbes Top 10 LASIK Surgeons" and "Best Doctors in America." Dr. Cohen is the president of the South Palm Ambulatory and Laser Center, as well as a foundation member of B'nai Torah Congregation. He was a bronze medalist for the 2019 Maccabi Pan American Games Master Tennis singles and doubles. Dr. Cohen is also a book reviewer for Ocular Surgery News.
Dedicated to his profession with a strong desire to learn, Dr. Cohen is a research investigator for a variety of ocular diseases and has published his findings in many medical journals. Dr. Cohen served as chairman of the department of surgery at the West Boca Medical Center in Boca Raton, Florida.
